Hi, my name is Ellen Friedman. This is my fifth year at Heritage Middle School. I am teaching 8th Grade Mathematics and Algebra.  I have a BS in Elementary Education and Mathematics from Boston University and an MBA in Finance from Fordham University Graduate School of Business. I have enjoyed a 22 year career in finance, having held many exciting positions including Corporate Bond Trading, Credit Risk Management for Foreign Exchange, and Mortgage Funding Operations Management. I am thrilled to be teaching at HMS, pursuing my original career choice - teaching. When I'm not at HMS, my 3 daughters (Heather - 16, Karen - 13, Rebecca - 9) and our Shih Tzu, Sammy, (my son) keep me very busy. In my free time (which isn't much) I enjoy sudoku & kakuro, knitting, digital photography, and playing on my laptop.

     My mission for the class is to help the students succeed in Math as well as in all of their classes at HMS. Our work will include real life applications and help to prepare the students for the standardized tests that they will be taking this year and in High School. I hope that their success in my class and at school will help them to become confident, self-motivated young adults.
