All assignments will be recorded in student planners. It is important that these planners come back and forth between school/home daily. There will be no homework on Fridays or holidays.
 
Homework will include:
 
*Reading for 30 minutes each night remembering to fill out book log and at times completing some kind of response activity.
*Math practice page which will reinforce what was taught in class.
*On some nights a word work activity, a writing activity as needed, and other long-term projects or activities to review concepts in Science/Social Studies periodically.
 
**Once we begin cursive writing in the next couple of months, the children will be practicing for homework.
 
Information on nightly reading and book logs:
 
*Children may read from their book baggies, which will come back and forth between school/home daily, or books from home. Please remind your child to use the five-finger rule when selecting books from home.
 
*Book logs need to be filled out each night and kept in book baggies. The level column does not need to be filled out. I will supply your child with a new book log once it is filled. I would recommend giving your child some kind of timer or clock so they can track the minutes they read.
 
*It's okay and actually beneficially for books to be reread.
