All doors, including the main entrance will be locked during the school day.
All visitors must enter and exit the building using the main entrance before, during and after school.
Visitors must sign in and out at the main office and wear a visitors badge while in the building.
Parking
With the exception of six visitor parking spaces, all others in the school parking lot are reserved for staff.
If you drive your child to school, please park along Belmont Dr, So. Ashby Ave, or Hillside Ave. There is no parking, drop-off or pick-up in the oval or school parking lot. Unfortunately, the school was not designed to accommodate this type of traffic pattern.
Please follow all traffic safety rules when dropping off children.
Morning Arrival
All students not involved in early morning activities will line up on the blacktop area. Supervision begins at 7:35 a.m. Do not leave your child unattended on the blacktop prior to that time.
Students and parents should always use the stairs or path to access the blacktop. Running or walking down the hill is dangerous.
Students participating in early morning instructional activities - Band, Chorus, Orchestra, GT Art, or GT Music - may be dropped off at the main entrance before 7:40 a.m.
Each class will have a designated area to line up. We ask that parents drop off students and wait on top of the hill by the media center or by the path. Parents need not stay in class lines with the students.
In the event of inclement weather children in grades 2-5 will line up in the lower gym and kindergarten and 1st grade students will be escorted to the upstairs gym.
The bell rings at 8:05 a.m. There is no late bell and students arriving after the bell are considered tardy and must report to the office.
Students in grade 3 and above may ride their bicycles to school. They may enter via So. Ashby or Belmont and use the bicycle racks in either area.
Afternoon Dismissal
All students will be dismissed at 2:25 p.m. in accordance with the Student Dismissal from School policy and procedures.
Students in grades 1-5 will be dismissed onto to the blacktop either through the same doors used for morning arrival or the door closest to their last period class.
Kindergarten students will be dismissed from the Kindergarten Doors. Parents should wait on the sidewalk adjacent to the porch area.
If siblings are to meet it is important that you designate a meeting place.
