Voice of Democracy Essay Contest

Livingston High School Social Studies Department, in close association with Livingston Post 2856 of the Foreign Wars (VFW) and its Ladies Auxiliary, will once again sponsor the annual Voice of Democracy audio-essay contest and scholarship competition.

All students in grades 9 through 12 are invited to compete in this competition. Participants will write and record a three-to-five minute audio essay on this year’s theme of “Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?"  Contestants cannot mention their names, schools, hometowns or home states in their essays.

Prizes and scholarships will be awarded at the local, district, state and national levels. State winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC, to tour the city, meet the nation’s leaders, and be honored by the VFW and its Ladies Auxiliary. Besides competing for the top scholarship prize of $30,000, students may qualify for other scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $ 16,000.

All entries must be submitted to Mr. Kercher's office no later than OCTOBER 29th for consideration.
