Athletic Trainer Organizations
The profession of athletic training is organized by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) in conjunction with the independent certifying agency, the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification, Inc. (NATABOC)

Each state has a different type of legislation regarding the practice of medicine by athletic trainers. These categories include, licensure, registration and certification.  In New Jersey, athletic training requires licensure regulated by the NJ Dept. of Law and Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs and the State Medical Examiners Board.  View the State Practice Act.

Other organizations which have impacts on the profession are regional and state associations such as the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association and the Athletic Trainers Society of New Jersey.
