Should I send my child to school sick?

No.  Students should not be sent to school when they don’t feel well or have a contagious condition.

What if my child has a chronic and continuing illness?

If your child has a chronic illness you should notify the principal and apply for 504 accommodations or an individual health plan.

What about college visits?

There are many opportunities during the junior and senior year when parents can take their students on college visitation without missing school.  Summer, winter holidays, winter break, spring break, NJEA conference days in November, are all times that colleges welcome visitations.

What about family trips and other educational opportunities?

Family vacations should be planned during school vacation periods.  The school calendar school is published at least one year in advance for this purpose.  Should an extraordinary opportunity arise there is a process to request school approval.  Parents are requested to submit a “Request for Extraordinary Opportunity” form to the school principal which is available on the District website. 

How can I keep track of my child’s absences and tardies?

The STARS portal, available by clicking here, provides up to date information on your child’s attendance.  Additionally, attendance information is contained on all report cards.
