Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2012–2013 school year! We hope you had a wonderful summer and are geared up for the new school year. As you may already know, ARAMARK Education provides food service to your child’s school. We are extremely excited to be here and look forward to serving you and your children.

We want you to know that we take this responsibility seriously and put your child’s nutrition and well-being above everything. ARAMARK is happy to provide your child with nutritious and exciting recipes and menus, vibrant dining environments, and nutritional information and messaging to encourage healthy eating and exercise to maintain a well-balanced lifestyle.

We’d like to take this opportunity to share with you our programs and services for the new school year.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served at Heritage Middle School. The breakfast menu consists of bagels, muffins, and various hot options. Some examples are hot breakfast sandwiches, waffles, & eggs. Please refer to our price chart posted online on the cafeteria page on your school’s website. Breakfast will be served daily in the school’s cafeteria.

Breakfast is served at between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.

Lunch
All of our menus will be posted in the cafeteria and on the cafeteria’s page on your school’s website. The school lunch price is $3.95 (Includes hot meal of the day, a vegetable, fruit and a choice of milk). The price for reduced lunch is $0.40. All students who prepay or qualify for free or reduced-priced meals may go directly to the school cashier.

We would like to encourage all staff to pre-order their lunch selections. Students are encouraged to pre-order as well. Forms can be found in the main office and teachers lounge for staff and students can stop by the cafeteria to fill theirs out. We will designate an area where these orders can be picked up in order help speed up service. We would also like to encourage everyone to set up and use the POS system. This will also help speed up service. Information to set up an account is listed below.

Lunch Schedule:

10:46 a.m. - 11:17 a.m., 11:32 a.m. - 12:03 p.m., 12:18 p.m. - 12:49 p.m., and 1:04 p.m. -1:35 p.m.
Point-of-Sale System
For those of you new to the cafeteria program, we’d like to outline our mySchoolBucks (POS) system. The mySchoolBucks POS system benefits you, your child, and the school in a number of practical ways. We hope that you and your student will consider taking advantage of some of these convenient options. Please read the following information carefully.

All MyNutrikids.com Accounts must be transitioned to mySchoolBucks by November 16, 2012.
Here's what you can expect during the transition process:
  • Parents will be notified via email about the transition to mySchoolBucks. Included in this initial communication will be the change in the convenience fee amount to $1.95. You will receive a copy of this communication.
  • When the technology department has finished the upgrade the MyNutrikids.com website will be locked and parents will not be able to make online payments for 48 hours, while their accounts are being migrated to mySchoolBucks.
Once complete, parents will be automatically redirected to https://www.myschoolbucks.com where they can resume making online payments. They will also receive an introductory email with additional information about mySchoolBucks along with basic instructions on how to use the website.
PLEASE NOTE: Parents with an existing MyNutrikids.com account will continue to use the same username and password on mySchoolBucks.com. Children associated with their account will remain unchanged. Things to know about mySchoolBucks:
  • The convenience fee per transaction will change to $1.95.
  • mySchoolBucks has the following payment methods available for use:
    • Visa®
    • Mastercard®
    • Discover®
    • Electronic Check
  • Parents may fund up to $120 per student, but a family may pay for all of their students on a single transaction.
  • Due to legal requirements, we are unable to transfer automatic e-mail notifications. If parents previously setup low balance email alerts in MyNutrikids.com, they will need to set those up on mySchoolBucks.
  • The MyKids (MyNutrikids.com) Service Agreement will be replaced with an agreement from Heartland Payment Systems. This agreement covers provisions from each of the credit card brands, as well as various legal requirements.
Additional Resources:

Free and Reduced-Priced Meals
Applications for free and reduced-priced meals are available at your school. Please fill out the form and return it to your child’s school office. As a courtesy, all students who qualified for free or reduced-priced lunches last June will remain eligible until September 30th, 2012. After that date, students must have a new application completed and returned to the school office to continue to receive free or reduced-priced meals.

Families who qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches also qualify for the same category of breakfast. If the income in your household changes during the school year, please feel free to fill out another application.

Food Allergies
There is a growing amount of food allergies and intolerances occurring in children. Please let us know if your child has any special dietary restrictions, and we will try to accommodate them as much as possible.

Again, welcome to the 2012–2013 school year. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding any aspect of the Food Service Program at your child’s school, please feel free to contact Ralph Rizzolo at 973-535-8000 ext 8051, or by cell at 973-885-0729 and I will be more than happy to assist you.

Also, from time to time, we will reach out to you to obtain your feedback regarding the Food Service Program through our ViewPoint Survey process, which will be made available through the school districts website. We hope you will take the time to share your thoughts and ideas with us throughout the year.

Thank you for your support and cooperation. We look forward to another successful school year!
