Caps Off to the Graduates
Livingston High School presented 464 diplomas during graduation ceremonies on Friday, June 30. The commencement included honors to 69 students who received Academic Medallions, with speeches by Valedictorian Kevin Kwok and Salutatorian Helen Chen, and performances by the band and choir.
Looking out from the podium, Principal Mark Stern acknowledged the Merit Scholars, published writers, state champions and world-class athletes, commissioned artists, professional researchers, applauded performers, and business leaders, the Class of 2014 seated before him.
“No one knows what we will encounter in the years to come,” said Valedictorian Kevin Kwok, “but may we meet it with unfailing faith, optimism, and hope.”
Creative caps were the fashion statement of graduation day, the sparkles and sequins glimmering on Livingston’s home turf. They let the world know where the students are headed: Pitt, Parsons, NYU, to name just a few.
And as tradition holds, the caps went flying at the end of the ceremony, a picture-perfect ending to a glorious day.
