Dear Parents,
You know it’s spring when the ducklings are quacking away in Kindergarten! This year, each of our classrooms was lucky enough to welcome several little fuzzy friends to their community. In fact, we had such bounty that we were able to share with another school! When students heard that Collins School Kindergarteners had not been as lucky to see any ducklings born this year, they decided that the right thing to do was to send some of our MPE ducks over to Collins. It was a hard decision, but the children made it knowing that they were sharing with others. Kudos Kindergarteners for your generosity!
Our fifth graders have completed their NJASK testing this week and next week our third and fourth graders will join students in schools across New Jersey for tests at those two grade levels. Please be aware that in order to meet the state’s requirements, classroom teachers from various rooms and grades are asked to join in administering the testing over these two weeks. We appreciate students’ flexibility in a possible change in their routine as we are into “testing season.” For those students taking the NJASK test next week, remember to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, get to school on time, and try your best!
We are getting ready for Student Council Elections. Third and fourth graders who are interested in running for Student Council should be on the lookout for information from Mrs. Nikirk about dates and requirements. We will have primary elections in homerooms on May 20th and are looking forward to the campaigning and speeches later this month.
A note of thanks to all of our teachers for the many roles they fill - all of which are important in the lives of our students. This week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation week and the PTA was most generous in recognizing our hard working and dedicated staff. Thanks of all of you for your support of the work we do.
Finally, all week long, there have been cards and gifts made for moms for Mother’s Day. We hope you enjoy these as they go home today and we wish you every happiness as your family gathers this weekend!
Warm regards,
