January Units of Study
    Math - Multiplication and Division
    During this unit, we will learn that multiplication and division are inverse operations. We will continue to reinforce the various strategies taught in order to solve multiplication and division problems. The students will learn their facts up to 12 x 12. Once a fact has been completed, students should study their facts EVERY night for at least 10 minutes.  Flash cards will be made in class or for homework. to support this.
    Reading - Traditional Literature
    Throughout this unit, we will explore the various forms of traditional literature such as fables, folktales, tall tales, myths and legends. We will understand that each form of traditional literature has different qualities, but all are meant to teach a moral or a lesson.
    Writing - Literary Essay

    In this unit, the students will understand what it means to form a claim (thesis) and how to support that claim with specific evidence from a text. The students will come to understand the "essay format" by using an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
    Science - Weather
     During this unit, we will learn that meteorology is the study of the atmosphere and weather. We will learn that meteorologists use instruments to measure weather and make accurate weather forecasts. Other concepts covered will include: the sun, rotation vs revolution, and the water cycle.
