Read!

Reading

  • In reading, we will be following a reader's workshop model.

    This model includes

    • a mini-lesson in which we will review a concept, or introduce a new concept
    • a read aloud/guided practice
    • independent reading/practicing of the new concept
    • conferencing
    • reflection/sharing

I love reading, and I feel that it is extremely important to read every night! Whether it be listening to an audio book, reading independently, or having someone read to you, I require 20 minutes of reading 4-5 nights a week. Students will be expected to complete a reading log each night they read for 20 minutes.

I have my Orton Gillingham Certification. This certification focuses around teaching a multi sensory approach to reading, which is something I feel strongly about. Phonics will be included in our reading and writing blocks to further enhance your child's reading and writing skills.
