Degrees and Certifications:
Hello Burnet Hill Families!
My name is Carly Lehman Haggerty. I am looking forward to this upcoming year as your child’s resource room teacher! This year is going to be so exciting! We will learn, grow, and have a lot of fun together!
This is my second year teaching at Burnet Hill! I previously taught as a special education fourth and fifth grade teacher at P.S. 151, Yorkville Community School in New York City. After living in NYC for many years, it has been so nice to teach and live closer to home in New Jersey where I grew up attending the Millburn Public Schools! I live with my husband, Colin, in the area, where we love taking walks in nature, spending time with family, and eating ice cream at Magic Fountain and Mark and Julie's!
I specialize in differentiated curriculum and teaching to the individual needs of my students. I believe that building connections with one another and understanding a child’s background and prior knowledge helps guide their learning experiences. Our classroom community will be a place where students recognize their strengths and will be given ongoing support.
Here are a few fun facts about me:
-I graduated Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a B.S. in Television, Radio, & Film (Go Orange!) After college, I briefly worked in the music buisness, but missed working with children way too much! I changed my career to become a teacher and graduated from New York University with an M.A. in Childhood and Special Education!
-Maine is my most favorite place in the entire world.
-I love summer camp (I was a camper and worked on staff at Camp Laurel for a total of 14 years)
-I am a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. I specialize in behavioral change and helping others reach their health and wellness goals!
-I am a major dog lover! I love spending time with my nephew, Scooter, a sweet little terrier mix! One day I hope to get a dog of my own!
I am looking forward to an exciting year! I cannot wait to meet and learn about each one of you! Here is to a fabulous year!
