Reaching New Heights at MPMS

MPMS Mt. Pleasant Middle School students spent their next to last day of sixth grade celebrating the completion of the DARE program teaching them to say “no” to drugs and alcohol. The students climbed a rock wall, waved as a medical helicopter landed behind their school, and climbed inside Livingston rescue vehicles. The program on Thursday, June 19, also included educational programs about the dangers of using drugs and alcohol. The National Guard and Newark police force joined township police, fire and rescue workers at the school. Throughout the year, Livingston’s DARE officers teamed with MPMS health and physical education teachers for lessons on the risks of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, as well as about peer pressure and safety.
