Curbside Pick-up ~ Library Books

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Although students will be unable to visit the MPE Library this fall, I am excited to share the news that books from the media center will be coming to them!  Here are the specifics:

Students in Grades K - 2 have submitted interests in Seesaw. I will do my best to find books that match their requests. Recently those books have been given out during meet & greets.

Currently, those coming to school (hybrid) will pick up their books in their classroom. This will be done every other week. I will also choose a book that I think may spark their interest.   A silver lining in the present circumstances may be that children will have the opportunity to read/try books they may have never noticed before! Children may return books to their classroom at any time.

Students in Grades 3-5 are learning how to request a specific book directly from MPE’s  School Library Catalog. Once I receive those requests, (aka book orders) I will find the book in the library & check it out to them.  If a specific book is missing, I may replace it with a book that is similar to the requested title. Those who are coming to school (hybrid) will find their books in their classroom. They may return books to their classroom at any time.

Those students who are fully remote will have a dedicated curbside pick up time.

K-2 will have 2 books selected by me from their interest sheets in Seesaw

3-5 will have to request a book using our catalog.

Curbside

I will be in front of the school from 3:00 - 4:00 on Wednesdays beginning on October 21. You may drop books off at the same time you pick up books.  We will also keep a book drop bin outside the front door of the school for you to return books at any time.  If you are remote, Please fill out Curbside Pick up form

As with everything new this year,  I ask for your patience as this new system is implemented.  I will do my best to find “just right” books, check them out, and get them to you in a timely manner.  I will also be following the latest scientific protocols as I “quarantine” returned books before they are safe to be checked out again.

If you have specific requests you can email me directly lpiccoli@livingston.org

Loving Books Always,
