The Livingston High School chapter of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) recently participated in the NJ HOSA State Leadership Conference. 

 

The mission of HOSA is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA members from all around the state, both Secondary and Postsecondary/Collegiate, come together at the annual conference to take full advantage of HOSA’s Competitive Events Program. The LHS chapter turned in an impressive performance at the competition, earning several awards. 

 

Sophie Bloch and Julia Herbst placed third in EMT; Bupe Lwanda placed fourth in Medical Assisting; Zoe Ching placed fifth in Nursing Assisting; Sophie Mintz placed fourth in Sports Medicine; and Kristen Ngai and Renee Ngai were awarded the Barbara James Service Award - Silver Level. The LHS group also took home the top four spots in the OSHA Safety Awareness Certification with Aishanee Acharya placing fourth, Jeffrey Xu placing third, Neel Sahni placing second and Kathleen Zhang earning first place. 

 

Since they placed third in their event, Sophie Bloch and Julia Herbst will be representing the LHS HOSA Chapter at the International Leadership Conference later this spring.
