    Hello, Hillside Families!

I hope you've enjoyed the weekend!

We had an incredibly successful TREP$ Marketplace this past Thursday.  Congratulations to our fourth and fifth grade entrepreneurs for a job well done!  And, special thanks to the families and guests who attended the event.  Your support is greatly appreciated!  Just a reminder to our TREP$ families that there is one more workshop this Thursday.  It is the post-Marketplace reflection workshop, and students are certainly encouraged to attend as reflection is an important part of the growth process.  Thank you!

We had our monthly Student Council Assembly on Friday, where we introduced our next character pillar of study, trustworthiness, honored our next round of Huskies of the Month, and awarded Hank and Holly to their new homes, Miss Begega's and Ms. Bunker's classes, respectively.  Congratulations to these classes and to our Husky honorees!

We have an exciting week ahead with three grade levels attending trips!  (See calendar below for information.)  We wish our first, fourth, and fifth graders a wonderful time on their respective trips!

There is a GT Art Reception on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Livingston Public Library.  Congratulations to our own fourth and fifth grade GT Art students for having their work featured at this reception.  I encourage you to stop by and check out their work if you're available!

The PTA's Spring Fundraiser is this Thursday evening at Rovello's.  I want to thank the parent coordinators for their hard work in planning and preparing the event, and also thank those who have contributed in any capacity to make the event a success.  If you plan to attend, I'll see you there!

Kindly find the next installment of Hank's PE Highlights here.  Thanks to physical education teacher, Mr. C., for sharing all of the great work that students do in PE classes!

REMINDER:  "Take Your Child to Work Day" is Thursday, April 25.  Families who plan to participate and keep children home from school that day should be sure to make a note in the comments section of the attendance portal that students are participating in the day, so that it can be marked as an excused absence.  Absences for this purpose will only be marked excused for that day only (April 25).  Thank you for understanding!

    Hello, Hillside Families!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday, if you celebrated, and an awesome Spring Break!  We were excited to welcome some of our students back to school on Friday, and look forward to seeing the rest tomorrow!

As a reminder, we have a partial day of school (12:00 PM dismissal) tomorrow, Monday, April 8.  The school has purchased eclipse viewing glasses for all students, and we will distribute them before dismissal on Monday.  If you plan to observe the eclipse, please be sure to do so safely and use protective eyewear like the ones we are providing to students.  For eclipse safety information and activities, please see this choice board or this board.  Although Livingston (or anywhere in NJ) is not on the path of totality, NASA will be hosting a live broadcast along the path of totality starting at 1:00 PM, so that anyone can enjoy images of totality from different locations across the United States. More information about this broadcast is available here.  Thank you, and enjoy!

Families are also reminded that schools are closed for students on Wednesday, April 10, in observance of Eid.  Eid Mubarek to our families and friends who are celebrating the end of Ramadan!

We look forward to this week's TREP$ Marketplace scheduled for Thursday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the upper and lower gyms.  Our young entrepreneurs have been working hard on their services and products, so please come support them that evening if you can!  The main entrance will open at 6:00 p.m. for customer entry.  Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you and to a successful event!

We look forward to our next Student Council Assembly on Friday afternoon, and the PTA is holding its weekly after school Bake Sale on Friday as well.

"Take Your Child to Work Day" is Thursday, April 25.  Families who plan to participate and keep children home from school that day should be sure to make a note in the comments section of the attendance portal that students are participating in the day, so that it can be marked as an excused absence.  Absences for this purpose will only be marked excused for that day only (April 25).  Thank you for understanding!
