Dear Harrison Community,
A big thank you to our PTA for organizing our Harrison vs. MPE Staff basketball game and to all the parents who purchased tickets to support the Livingston First Aid Squad! Staff from both schools volunteered to play a full court basketball game and it was amazing to see the effort and sportsmanship at play modeled for our students! I was also very impressed with all our fans that cheered us on throughout the game! Our staff felt the love and we can’t thank you enough! Thank you again to the PTA for making this event possible and helping model to our students fun ways to give back to the community!
Another thank you to all those who purchased popcorn to support our 5th graders these past 5 days! Our 5th graders worked hard with their families to sell popcorn to the community and raised enough money to support their end-of-year activities! Every little bit helped and I am proud of our 5th graders for working to raise the money themselves! Thank you to the 5th grade committee and all those who made this possible.
I wanted to clarify some information about our lunch/recess procedures so that parents can better support the program. All students have a combined 42 minutes lunch and recess period. Students for that period are designated 20 minutes to eat their lunch, but if they need more time to eat we have designated tables where they can finish. During that eating time, we instruct students to eat and socialize for a minimum of 10 minutes before they can raise their hand, clean up, and go outside. Students are told not to throw out the food that is sent from home so that you can see what your child is or isn’t eating in school. We often communicate with students that they can eat for additional time and many students utilize it. We will remind them this week to make sure all students are aware of this. If a child is hungry and eating they will have the time to finish. Please encourage your child to be independent and eat during that time and listen to their bodies to know if they are truly full. As parents, try to adjust the amount of snack or lunch size accordingly or have conversations with your children. If there are any circumstances that need to be communicated to Mrs. Goldberg and me please feel free to reach out. Thank you for your support to help make lunch and recess successful.
