Why is my head itchy?
Our school nurses periodically get phone calls from parents or a call from a classroom teacher that a child has been scratching his/her head. Groans of frustration and the attempts to keep panic out of the conversation can be heard. What isn't heard often times is a clear understanding of the current research that has been published about the age-old nuisance called head lice.
School nurses are available to answer any questions about this pesky critter. In order to be well informed, you are also directed to the links below. They are grounded in evidence-based practice and do guide how we manage head lice in the schools. If you are suspicious that your child has a case of head lice or if you find the case yourself, please contact your school nurse.
