    WARM WEATHER COMFORT AND
SAFETY TIPS FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE

    CLOTHING
The children should dress in clothing that is cool and comfortable, however skimpy tank tops and bare midriffs are not appropriate to wear to school. Remember there is no shade on the playground and the chances of sunburn are great when wearing this type of clothing.

Since our school is newly air conditioned,  our buildings should provide some relief from the heat outside. Some children may wish to keep a sweater or sweatshirt in their classrooms in case they get too cold.

    FOOTWEAR
Since the children will be running and climbing on the playground equipment, they need to be in sneakers or in shoes that tie/strap on the feet. Slip-on shoes, clogs, and platform shoes, while in style, are dangerous and may cause injury to your child. These type of shoes can be dangerous inside our school as well,  since the floors are highly polished.

    HYDRATION
Proper hydration is essential for good health in warm weather. Please provide an extra water bottle for your child to use during and after lunch recess.

Please help us to maintain a positive learning environment during warm weather by giving these suggestions your careful consideration. Thank you.
