March Units of Study
    Math - Area and Perimeter
During this unit, we will apply skills learned throughout our past units in order to determine area and perimeter. Automaticity in multiplication facts is very important throughout this unit. Therefore, students should continue to study their facts EVERY night for at least 5-10 minutes.
Reading - Exploring Opinion and Persuasive Texts
In this unit, children will explore different perspectives on real-life issues. Students will read or view videos and texts that will allow them to understand and compare/contrast varying perspectives on a topic.
    Writing - Opinion Essay

In this unit, the students will apply what they learned throughout our Literary Essay unit about the essay structure and forming a claim supported with specific evidence. Throughout this unit, students will learn to write about their own opinions, support their opinions with specific evidence, target a specific audience, and consider opposing views. The students solidify their understanding of the "essay format" by using an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
Social Studies - The Native Americans
We will continue to learn about various Native American tribes through the lens of PPECS, which focuses on the political features, physical features, economic features, cultural features and social features of each tribe.
