"I would demo searches so kids could use the laptops and available desktops appropriately. In the math data unit, I would use sites that have interactive graphs to show how change of data changes graphs. In the number sense, geometry and fraction-decimal units, there are websites with interactive "paper" that allows demos of changes with shapes showing area/perimeter, changes of fractals and tesselations, rotational and reflective symmetry; there are interactive geoboards that can be modeled...and then manipulated by students. There are teacher-created games such as math Jeopardy loaded on my desktop that I could play with the kids for reinforcement of skills. There are video models of math problems that might spark a student"s understanding. I could go on and on..." - June Volk, Grade 5 (Hillside) |
