Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Melissa Mondanaro
Welcome! My name is Melissa Mondanaro, and it is my fifth year teaching in Livingston Public Schools! I graduated from New Jersey City University in 2016, with a BA in Art and specialization in Art Therapy. During my time at NJCU, I interned at Children's Day Nursery, where I worked with children in a therapeutic setting. I provided art sessions for children at risk, as well as in classroom support. By working in a school, I realized that I loved being in a classroom, and supporting students with artistic experiences. Art truly helps children build confidence, resilience, and problem solving skills. I went back to school immediately after graduation, to obtain my teaching certificate. I have had teaching experiences in Bayonne, Jersey City, and North Plainfield. Shortly after, I was hired in Livingston!
My artistic concentration is graphite drawing. I love to work with animals, focusing on texture and pattern. In my spare time, you may find me in Disney World. One of my goals is to travel to all of the Disney parks around the world! (I just have to visit China to complete this goal!) I love spending time with friends and family, trying new food, and traveling (not just to Disney).
I am so happy to be your art teacher, and I look forward to a creative year!
