    Homecoming Hall of Fame Change in Reception Venue to Ravello Restaurant
     
     
     
     
     
     
    October 2, 2012, Livingston, NJ – Due to an overwhelming response to the Homecoming Weekend LHS Alumni Hall of Fame Reception, scheduled for Friday, October 5, 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., the Livingston Education Foundation, (LEF) has moved the venue from Calabria Restaurant to Ravello Restaurant, 138 Eagle Rock Avenue in East Hanover. The LEF is grateful to Calabria Restaurant and its owners for their understanding and support of the 2012 Homecoming Weekend.
    “Seating for the Reception is now at capacity and we are looking forward to welcoming the friends, family and colleagues who will be gathering to honor our LHS Hall of Fame 2012 Inductees, Brandon Bodow, Class of 2002, Jeffrey Dollinger, Class of 1972, and Greer Gelman, Class of 1990 as well as LEAD Award recipients for Leadership in Educational Achievement and Dedication , Ralph Celebre and Fraida Yavelberg,” said Trudy Bier, LEF Secretary and member of the Hall of Fame Committee. Stephen Oremus, Class of 1989 will be also be inducted into the Hall of Fame for 2012; however, due to work commitments, Mr. Oremus will be unable to attend the October 5 activities and will visit LHS on a future date. For those who will not be in attendance, but would like to recognize the honorees, you may make a donation to the LEF in their name by going to the LEF website, www.livingston.org/lef . Proceeds from the Reception will go to support Technology for the 21st Century Classroom in the Livingston Public Schools.

    The public is encouraged to attend the Friday, October 5, 7:00 p.m. Homecoming Football Game played against Nutley High School on the LHS home turf. At the September 28 game, alumni from the Class or 1962, in town to celebrate their 50-year reunion, came out to cheer for the Lancer’s and delight in the Marching Band half-time show. The Class of 1962 pioneered many firsts for LHS. The 291 members of their student body was the first to attend all grades, 9 to 12 at the existing Livingston High School. They were the first to organize the Key Club, to a have foreign exchange student, Carlo Grosso, and the first to have female score keepers, Jean Kinsey Ruegg and Marianne Katsafouros Barish. They are also the first to donate memorabilia to the newly established, official Livingston High School Alumni Association (LHSAA). Class of 1962 football co-captains, Woody Goble and Jim Kraeutler presented their varsity football jackets, which still fit, to Marianne Katsafouros Barish, reunion co-chair and member of the LHSAA and volunteer for LEF. Mrs. Barish and Harvey Gilbert, co-chaired the reunion and planned many memorable events throughout the weekend for their visiting classmates.
     
     
    The Class of 1972 will be in town for Homecoming Weekend, October 5-7, to celebrate their 40th Reunion. “LEF congratulates both the class of 1962 and 1972 and thanks them for working with the Foundation in establishing the affiliation between LEF and the LHSAA,” said Amy Saffer, co-chair of the Hall of Fame Committee and officer of the LHSAA.     On Saturday, October 6 between 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., LEF encourages members of the community, families, seniors, service organizations and alumni or college students visiting for the October Homecoming Weekend, to gather at the Gazebo for Daffodil Day and help plant bulbs around the Oval. This event is part of the preparation for the Livingston Bicentennial 2013. Daffodils will be for sale to purchase for private dwellings.     On Sunday, October 7 from 1:00 p.m. until dusk will be Lance’s Lounge at Swede’s Frozen Yogurt located at 45 South Livingston Ave. “We are so grateful to David Feldman, LHS Class of 1986 and manager of Swede’s Frozen Yogurt, and Alan Karpas, Board Member of HCHY, for all of the work that they put into coordinating this event,” said Heidi Cislo, LEF President. “We hope that the public will come out to enjoy the pleasant café ambience of Swede’s paired with musical entertainment.” Lance’s Lounge, sponsored by HCHY, coordinated by the Livingston High School Community Action Club (CAC) and produced by Mo Menzel, Menzel Violins will feature performances by Livingston High School student bands on an outdoor stage! Swede’s will donate 25% of pre-tax sales from the entire day to LEF in support of the Livingston Public Schools! The raindate is October 14.
