Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! My name is Michelle Polo, and I am honored to join the MPE community this year as a special education teacher. I have over 15 years of teaching experience and have taught Special Education over the past 7 years. I have my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction in addition to my Special Education certification. I am highly qualified in Language Arts and have a strong background in Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop. I am passionate about teaching and believe that every one of my students will thrive in my classroom with tailored instruction that meets their learning styles, educational and social/emotional needs. I previously taught 6th Grade Language Arts in both the resource room and the In-Class Resource settings for the past 7 years in Franklin Township. Prior to teaching special ed, I taught 2nd and 3rd Grade in Maplewood/South Orange at Clinton Elementary School for 4 years.
Outside of school, I enjoy decorating and love spending time with my son Matthew, who is a freshman in college, and my daughter Emily, who is a junior in high school. I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students and their families this year! Please know that you can always reach me at mpolo@livingston.org if you have any questions.
