The Livingston Homecoming Weekend is Just Around the Corner
October 5, 2010, Livingston, NJ – Livingston Homecoming Weekend, October 15-17 is just around the corner with proceeds to benefit educational initiatives of the Livingston Public Schools and the Youth of Livingston! The Homecoming Weekend is an opportunity to celebrate education and wellness and is made possible through the collaborative efforts and combined talents of many individuals and groups. School and township organizations as well as local businesses have come forward to create a weekend of fun and educational events.
As a preliminary to the weekend, Party City in East Hanover is offering a coupon for a 10% discount off of an entire purchase to the shopper with an additional 10% off of the same purchase to go back to Livingston Education Foundation (LEF) in support of Livingston Public Schools. The coupon is good from October 4-10. It is a win-win, lending support to the individual and education.
The Livingston Education Association (LEA) is proud to support the efforts of the LEF for all Homecoming Weekend events. Teachers, staff, and administrators will volunteer their time and expertise to be a part of the LHS visit by Hall of Fame inductees: Harlan Coben, class of 1980, Jennifer Goodman Linn, class of 1989 and Major General Glenn Rieth, class of 1976 as well as at the Homecoming Football Game on Friday, October 15, 7:00 p.m. on the LHS turf field, at an LEF Bookfair at the Barnes and Noble in the Livingston Mall to be held on Saturday, October 16 -17, at the Hall of Fame Dinner to be held at the Cedar Hill Country Club on Saturday, October 16 - 7:00 p.m., at the Student Homecoming Dance on the same evening, and of course, for the Sunday, October 17 Livingston 5-K Run.
There will be activities for students K through 12 and their families at the Livingston Education Foundation (LEF) Bookfair at the Barnes and Noble in Livingston Mall, 112 Eisenhower Pkwy. On Saturday, October 16 Livingston Public School Teachers will read to elementary students between the hours of 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There will be a book discussion for middle school students hosted by teachers from 2:00 p.m., - 3:00 p.m. The Bookfair is also supported by members of the Livingston HCHY. Pastor Leslie Martin along will student members of the HCHY Community Action Committee connecting LHS students with local service opportunities will run an Open Mic from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. On Sunday, October 17 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., there will be an intergenerational book discussion for high school students and adults. The book selection is Little Bee by Chris Cleave. The discussion will be hosted by LHS retired teachers. All members of the community are invited to join these activities. Coupons will be made available on the Livingston Education Foundation Website that will be honored for in-store purchases during checkout at most all Barnes and Noble locations for Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17. Barnes and Noble will then donate a percentage of these coupon sales back to LEF to support Livingston Public Schools.
