    Hello 4th Grade Families,

This week we learned all about measurement in math, completed our human body science unit and celebrated Multicultural Night. We are always busy learning in room 104! Let’s continue to “Race Toward Success”!

We are continuing to “Race Toward Success” in grade 4!

    Important Items to Note:

    • Friday Folders were distributed today. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

    • Math Assessment- In your child’s folder there is an Area and Perimeter Performance Task that was the final assessment for that unit in lieu of a chapter test. As per the district rubric for this task students were scored as follows:

    8pts - 100%, 7pts - 90%, 6pts - 80%, 5pts - 70%, 4pts - 60%, 3pts - 50%, 2pts- 40%, 1pts - 30%

Students will continue to be supported via small groups and 1:1 next week as needed.

    •  NJSLA information-  4th grade is testing the week of May 8.  Here is a link for more information. https://www.nj.gov/education/assessment/resources/parents/  There are also additional links on our class web site under “Parent Resources”. I also provided a student friendly practice link and test features video via Google Classroom earlier this week.

Tips: Be sure to charge your child’s device nightly, help them to get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and get to school on time. We will have an amazing week “showing off” all we have learned this school year.

Reminder: NO HOMEWORK will be assigned next week

    • Optional Testing Letters of Encouragement- were due TODAY, Friday, May 5. Please email me over the weekend if you did not turn in a letter but would still like to. I am going to write letters to students as needed.  Thank YOU!

    • The Wild Robot STEM -We are collecting recyclable items such as : paper towel/toilet paper rolls, cardboard boxes (all shapes and sizes), aluminum foil, empty plastic containers/lids, empty cans, empty water bottles, and bottle caps.  ***We will complete this project on Friday, 5/12

    • Penny Wars- WOW…MPE sure did amazing! We raised over $2,600 for Autism NJ. Way to go! Reminder of how the winning grade-level was selected- At the end of the Penny War,  Student Council students and teachers added up how many pennies were in each jar, and then subtracted the value of silver coins and bills in the same jar. The grade with the highest total points after the silver coins and bills have been subtracted was deemed the winner. Although 4th grade brought in LOTS of pennies we still had other grade-levels compete against us by putting in LOTS of silver coins! I am so happy that Dr. Dolan decided to give all grades ice pops for such an amazing fundraiser!

    Upcoming Events:

    • Color Run- TODAY at 4:00 for grade 4 (see PTA site for details-students MUST be pre-registered )
    • May 8-May 15- NJSLA Testing (note: we are testing for 6 consecutive days)

Thank YOU for ALL you do! I am lucky to work with supportive families.  Continue to reach out. Your questions, concerns, feedback, and suggestions are very much valued.

    Have a great weekend!

    Mrs. Dana Triana
