Livingston Public Schools is proud to offer an enriching educational experience across our district’s nine schools, ranging from early childhood to high school. Each of our schools is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment that supports the academic, social and emotional growth of every student.

  • The decision to open or close schools in bad weather is a difficult decision and LPS is very sensitive to how these decisions affect you and your family. While students are better served by being in school - which empowers them to learn, create, contribute, and grow - our top priority is always their safety.

    Livingston Public Schools uses Blackboard Connect to send alerts to parents concerning delayed openings, school closings, early dismissals and other emergencies. It is vital that you log into your Genesis Parent Portal account and under CONTACTS be sure that you have checked off the box for "Emergency Broadcast" for any phone numbers and email addresses at which you wish to be notified. If you would like a text message as well, denote which phone numbers are mobile. Please be sure to verify this important information for each child.

    In addition, a message will be posted on the LPS website by 5:30 a.m. If the decision is made the night before, the message will be posted by 10:30 p.m. The following media outlets are also notified and broadcast the information on their news programs and/or websites: News 12 New Jersey, WABC-TV, Fox, WPIX, and NBC.

    Please do not call the Livingston Township Police Department to find out if school is delayed or closed.
