LHS Quizbowl Team Has Remarkable Season

COLLAGE OF QUIZ BOWL TEAM MEMBERS

Livingston’s Quiz Bowl teams have had a truly remarkable season!

Since September, the Lancer program has dominated the local, regional and national circuit like never before. It has won every tournament it has entered (including the Princeton University competition that was held in September) and qualified three teams for the national tournament. In addition, the A team, consisting of seniors Robert Wang, Lelun Li, Kevin Zhang, and junior Arav Kaushik, is currently the number one ranked team in the United States!

“No LHS team has come close to this achievement,” noted team advisor, Guy Rabner. “In May, the A team will compete to hopefully become the national champion after finishing third at last year’s tournament.”

Recently, at the Garden State Cup at Ridgewood High School, Livingston completely dominated the competition. The A team won the competition by going undefeated. In addition, nine of the 10 Livingston teams made the last 32 and the playoff round. Livingston’s E team defeated Seton Hall for a third place finish, and four total LHS teams finished in the top 10.

Mr. Rabner noted that many of the students that competed are both freshmen and first time competitors this year.

HERITAGE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM

Mr. Rabner stated that another remarkable achievement was that Heritage Middle School’s A team made the playoffs of a high school tournament!  He added that the competition included a host of amazing individual performances, led by National History Bee champion Robert Wang, who finished in third place individually.

“This is truly a remarkable team that deserves to be celebrated and honored for its amazing accomplishments. It’s a testament to this incredible district and its outstanding teachers. With such a large contingent of players, both veteran and young, this team is poised for continued success for years to come,” said the team’s advisor, Guy Rabner.
