  • On April 1, 2024, Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Matthew Block, announced that he will be retiring from public education in New Jersey after 25 years of service effective July 1, 2024.

    The Livingston Board of Education (LBOE) is in the early planning stages for a new educational leader who will continue to place the needs of students as a top priority.  As plans become more definitive over the coming weeks, the LBOE will share additional information with the community on this page.

Interim Superintendent Application Information

  • The Livingston Public School District is accepting applications for a visionary, results-oriented, energetic, Interim Superintendent for its nationally recognized school system for the 2024-2025 school year. The district’s 6,000+ PK-12 students in 9 schools are supported by a $150M budget and benefit from strong community support, active parental involvement, and state-of-the-art facilities. 

    Attracting and retaining high quality staff is of paramount importance to achieving our mission as a district. Together, we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment that enables physical, mental, and emotional safety and wellness for all. 

    Our ideal candidate will have multiple years of PreK-12 Superintendent experience and have been involved in strategic work in the following areas:

    • Commitment to a strong academic program;

    • Effective communication and engagement with stakeholders;

    • Creating a facilities plan, including a potential referendum, that will accommodate and support a growing student population; and,

    • Integrating district equity initiatives into all strategic priorities.

    Applicants must possess a valid NJ School Administrator Certification. While not required, a Doctorate degree is preferred.  

    The Board will be continually reviewing resumes and conducting interviews until a candidate is selected for this critical position, ideally prior to their scheduled meeting on April 30, 2024.
