    Dear Collins Community,

We need your help in keeping your children as safe as possible during their Physical Education class.  The best way to accomplish this is to send your children to school with appropriate sneakers (rubber sole, laces or Velcro, sturdy, with tread on the bottoms) on the days they have Phys Ed.  Although boots, flip flops, crocs, sandals, and Uggs are extremely fashionable, they are not safe for movement in the gym.

Children should also wear clothing that is comfortable to move in, i.e., a tee shirt, shorts, and/or sweatpants.  It gets rather warm in the gym so layering is probably the best way to dress.  Hooded shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, and loose strings are a hazard, and should be removed prior to class.

In addition, long hair should be tied back, and all jewelry (watches, bracelets, hoop earrings, and rings) should be kept at home as they are not to be worn to class.

Please discuss your child's weekly specials schedule with them. It is best to leave a reminder somewhere for your child and yourself about their 2 P.E. days every 6 days to help prepare them for class. Please check my website for exact dates for your child's class.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep your children safe, active and healthy at Collins Elementary School.

    Sincerely,
