On Monday, October 12, students had the opportunity to sleep in. Not so the teachers. They were up bright and early as usual and headed to school for a Staff Professional Development Day. Workshops, which were led by various staff members, included: An introduction to coding, the value of laughter in relieving stress, how music and movement can positively affect your brain, academic vocabulary development and common language, positive behavior supports, and the review of new curriculum resources in math, reading and social studies. In various break-out sessions, some staff members became certified in CPR, while others planned cross-curricular grade-level projects that emphasize collaboration and technology integration. It was time well-spent, and you can be sure that your children returned to school on Tuesday to a staff re-energized and more committed than ever to providing quality instruction. Oh, and was it mentioned that they had fun too? See for yourself:
