- Student Council Speeches
-
On Thursday, June 9th, Eight students -- Parker Shulman, Egor Tarasyuk, Fred Xu, Fiona Zhang, Sylvie Friedman, Katherine Hall, Kate Ratkowitz and Raquel Silva -- stepped up to the microphone at the podium with confidence. They each delivered original speeches asking their fellow students to cast their votes in the Harrison Student Council Election. The speeches were well-written, and filled with great ideas, thoughtfulness, humor, and concern for others. They were delivered by the students with poise and enthusiasm, and were well-received by an attentive audience. Thanks to Miss Sorrentino, Mrs. Giannopoulos and Mrs. Piegari for coaching the candidates. At the conclusion of the speeches, Mrs. Healy recognized the work done by Miss Sorrentino over the past ten years as Student Council Adviser. As a fond farewell to Miss Sorrentino, the 4th and 5th grade chorus (under the direction of Mrs. Matten) sang "Time of Your Life" and everyone joined in for the Harrison Song. It was a joyous conclusion to a special afternoon. The eight candidates should feel proud knowing that they will all be excellent student representatives in the coming school year.
