"Hi Mitch! Hi Martha! Can I have your autograph?" Students at Harrison School greeted the husband and wife team known as "Beauty and the Beast Storytellers" with a combination of familiarity and awe. And why not? Mitch Weiss and Martha Hamilton have been coming to our school for the past 13 years, so they seem like family but they also have the spark of celebrity. On Monday, March 14th, Mitch and Martha enthralled all the students and staff with a few of the hundreds of folktales they have collected from -- and told -- throughout the world. Then, they worked with the 3rd graders during a weeklong residency which culminated on Friday, March 18th in a storytelling festival. Students impressed their families with their skills as raconteurs, and many parents admired their children's ability to perform for an audience. Congratulations to the 3rd graders and their teachers for all their hard work! Keep the spirit alive. Go tell a story or two. . .
