• On November 11, while their parents attended a PTA meeting, students gathered across the hall -- some in their pajamas.  They were attending Harrison's Birthday Book Club night, which has become a highly anticipated annual event.  Teachers perform Reader's Theater for the children, who enjoy seeing their teachers in a new light.  (As one first grader remarked the next day, "You were funny in that show last night!").  After being entertained, the children were given books selected especially for each of them. The book has a bookplate with the child's name and that child is the first one to read the book.  After he/she enjoys it, it is returned to the library for the rest of the school to enjoy.  And of course, what would a birthday be without cake?  A good time was had by all, and some of the children didn't even wait to get home to begin reading their books!
