Principal Cynthia Healy is proud to announce that Janine DeMarsico has been selected as Harrison's 2015 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. DeMarsico, who holds a BA in Teacher of the Handicapped and Elementary Education, has been a Special Education teacher at Harrison for eleven years. She also holds an MA in Education in Reading. Additionally she is certified as a Reading Specialist and Supervisor. She is admired by her colleagues for her professionalism and ability to collaborate with teachers in all grade levels and every content area. She is frequently the “go-to” staff member when school-wide initiatives are planned and implemented, and her combination of tough love and genuine caring inspire children and adults alike. She states, “I believe in encouraging my students to become life-long learners as I support their goals and dreams.” Mrs. DeMarsico coached cheerleading for many years. Outside of school, Mrs. DeMarsico likes to cook and bake. Most of all, she and her husband, Rick, enjoy spending time with their two-year-old daughter, Sofia, as well as family and friends. Congratulations to Mrs. DeMarsico on this well-deserved recognition!
