• Each year in our school we like to celebrate
An author whose books are really first rate!
Near his birthday in March we know it is time
To tip our hat to the “King of Rhyme.”

Of course we are speaking of the good Dr. Seuss
Who changed reading habits when he let loose
With words that made stories both silly and not --
He encouraged us to read, and read a lot!

So The Cat in the Hat greeted us all in the gym
And for Reader’s Theater we settled in.
Teachers performed with laughter and skill
To see them like this is always a thrill!

This year we heard “Space Boy” and about ants everywhere.
The teachers showed off their dramatic flair.
It was over too soon but we left with a smile
Reminded that reading is always worthwhile!
