Second graders were recently treated to a special visit from the Seeing Eye, a philanthropic organization and guide dog school that teaches children the importance of accepting and respecting everyone’s differences. Students had the opportunity to interact with Octavia, this special pup that will one day become a seeing eye dog. Community volunteer and puppy raiser, Pamela Chirls, (who also happens to be an award-winning editor) demonstrated the skills Octavia is learning that will help to enhance the independence, dignity, and self-confidence of people who are blind.
