• Culminating their immigration unit in Social Studies, third graders dressed in clothing representative of their cultural background, packed their bags (pillowcases) and journeyed through Ellis Island (cycling between all four 3rd grade classrooms).  They performed Reader's Theater about the inspection process at port, had their fingerprints taken, learned about American symbols, and took part in many other educational experiences to better understand what confronted those courageous people who came to the United States seeking a better life.
