Traditionally, Valentine's Day means chocolate and flowers. At Harrison, it always means wearing your pajamas to school, and doing yoga! This year, students gathered in the gym to go through various yoga poses guided by an instructor from "cosmic kids" -- a site that teaches mindfulness through popular stories such as Frozen and Harry Potter. Students enjoyed this time to focus on their breathing, as well as the connection between their minds and bodies. It was a welcome time to slow down a little to simply "be". Research has proven again and again the benefits of such mindfulness on emotional health as well as academic success. And to prove once again that Harrison is a giving community, the students and staff were not the only ones to benefit from the activities of February 14th. Donations collected that day will be sent to the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey. So here's to healthy minds and bodies:
