    Course Description:
     

    Transportation and Automotive Systems provides students with an overview of various transportation-related technologies and systems. Through hands on projects and assignments, students will become familiar with various types of vehicles and their impact on the consumer and society. In addition, the course provides students with the basic knowledge needed to maintain automobiles in the 21st century, including the use of contemporary computer-assisted diagnostic equipment. Students can perform lab assignments on their own vehicle or school-provided cars. Career awareness and consumer knowledge is integrated throughout the course.

     Who Typically Takes This Course?

    * Students who want to know more about engines, energy, power machinery, automobiles, etc.
     
    * Students who want to know more about how their car works, how to perform routine maintenance, and the consumer aspects of purchasing and maintaining a car.
    * Students who like to work on power equipment and enjoy working with tools and machines.
    * Students who want to understand the theory and concepts behind various engine types, transportation modes, and the impact they have on society and the environment.
     
    * Students who want to see the connection between science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and possibly want to pursue a career in STEM field - especially mechanical engineering/technology.
