World Language Honor Societies of the Livingston Public School District
Students are invited to apply in early October to join each honor society. Honor Society Induction ceremonies & rehearsals will be held at Livingston High School in November.
The 2023 LPS World Languages Honor Societies Induction Ceremony will take place on Wednesday November 1, 2023 at 7:00pm in the Fitness and Wellness Center.
LPS World Language Honor Societies
Chinese Honor Society
Advisor: Xin Cai
The Chinese honor society was founded by a national organization, the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary School (CLASS), with a chapter at Livingston High School.
Eligibility:
- A student who has completed Chinese 2 CP may be admitted into the Chinese Honor Society with a GPA of 3.65 or higher in the course and a minimum overall weighted GPA of 2.00. They must also take the third year of Chinese.
- A student who has completed 3 CP and 4 CP/Honors may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher in the course and a minimum overall weighted GPA of 2.00.
- In addition, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.65 or higher in the course and a minimum overall weighted GPA of 2.00 in an AP or 4 CP/Honors course to enjoy continued membership in the Chinese Honor Societies.
- French Honor Society
Advisor: Soukeyna Diop- Tall
The French honor society was founded by a national organization, the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF).
Eligibility:
- Students must currently be enrolled in French
- Students who have completed French 2 CP and French 3 CP may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
- Students who have completed French 2 H and French 3 H may be admitted with a may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
- Students who have completed 4 CP or 4 Honors may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
Italian Honor Society
Advisor: Guy Rabner
The Italian honor society was founded by a national organization, La Società Onoraria Italica with the Luigi Pirandello chapter at Livingston High School.
Eligibility:
- A student who has completed Italian 2 CP and Italian 3 CP may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
- A student who has completed Italian 2 CP and Italian 3 Honors may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
- A student who has completed 2 CP, 3 Honors, and 4 CP/Honors may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
Spanish Honor Society
Advisor: Susana Fernandez-Poyatos
The Spanish honor society was founded by a national organization, the Asociación Americana de Maestros de Español y Portugués with the Pablo Casals chapter at Livingston High School.
Eligibility:
- Students must currently be enrolled in Spanish.
- Students who have completed Spanish 2 CP and Spanish 3 CP may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
- Students who have completed Spanish 2 H and Spanish 3 H may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
- Students who have completed 4 CP or 4 Honors may be admitted with a GPA of 3.65 or higher and an overall weighted GPA of 2.0.
